Every Camper Learns To Swim
The South County YMCA Aquatics Staff are highly trained to provide safe and age-appropriate swim lessons to all children. Every camper is offered one FREE swim lesson in additional to the free swim rotation.
Traditional Camps
LIL’ ADVENTURERS
Entering Kindergarten
Campers will spend fun-filled days involved in traditional camp activities, creative art experiences, games and exploration. Campers will develop social emotional skills in a supportive and safe environment.
PIONEER
Entering Grade 1
This traditional outdoor day camp provides campers the opportunity to explore and develop their own interests through a variety of camp activities such as: art, active play, music, and swimming. Campers will gain independence, as well as, learn responsibility, and how to work together as a group through team-building activities.
EXPLORER ARTS/SPORTS
Entering Grades 2-4
Campers will spend half the day enjoying traditional camp activities such as archery, arts & crafts, and nature. The other half of the day will be focused on water activities, creative arts, or sports.
DISCOVERY ARTS/SPORTS
Entering Grades 5-8
Campers will explore a variety of traditional camp activities such as arts & crafts, swimming, archery, games, and team-building. They’ll develop social skills, independence, and make new friends.
Specialty On-Site Camps
CHEF CAMP
Entering Grades 1-5
Aspiring chefs will learn tools in the kitchen while making delicious, kid-friendly recipes.
ARCHERY CAMP
Entering Grades 4-8
Campers will enjoy one-on-one time with our certified archery specialist learning tips to enhance accuracy, how to stand, shoot, and score along with playing fun archery games and activities.
ART EXPLOSION
Entering Grades 1-5
Spend this week exercising your creative muscles! You’ll have a blast creating your own beautiful masterpieces.
AQUA CAMP
Entering Grades 2-8
Our highly-trained Aquatic Staff will work with your child to develop new skills. Campers will participate in fun water-themed games and activities and visit off-site beaches. Campers will be supervised by certified YMCA lifeguards and swim instructors. Campers must pass a green level swim test and like to swim in the deep end of the pool.
GYMNASTICS CAMP
Entering Grades 2-8
All skill levels welcomed in this high-energy, gymnastics camp. Campers will enjoy a week of tumbling, jumps, cartwheels, beams, and performance.
NINJA WARRIOR CAMP – New!
Entering First Grade
If your child likes a challenge then this is the camp for them! They will go through obstacle courses and learn basic physical fitness in a fun and engaging way that will help them become a YMCA Ninja Warrior.
LACROSSE CAMP – New!
Entering Grades 2-4
This six-week lacrosse clinic will focus on 40 minutes of stick work and 20 minutes of speed, agility, and overall physical fitness training. Campers will utilize the functional fitness center. Campers must bring their own equipment. Boys: helmet, stick, and gloves. Girls: goggles and stick.)
LEADERS IN TRAINING (LIT)
Entering Grades 9-10
LIT campers learn teamwork-oriented leadership skills teaming up with our trailed staff on a variety of projects. Participants will embark on hiking trips, and participate in onsite leadership workshops.
CAMPERS IN TRAINING (CIT)
Entering Grades 9-10
CIT Training provides leadership training for teens designed to focus on skills needed to become a successful camp counselor. CITs gain valuable counseling skills needed to ensure a smooth transition to future staff positions. Successful completion of this program may lead to a Junior Counselor (JC) position the following year.
Specialty Off-Site Camps
FARM CAMP
Entering Grades 1-8
Ideal for littles ones interested in science and nature, campers will spend the week at Compass School Farms learning about gardening and spending time with adorable animals. Transportation to the farm begins at 9:00am and returns to the South County YMCA by 3:00pm each day.
PETER PAN SURF CAMP
Entering Grades 4-8
We’ve teamed up with Surf Legend, Peter Pan, to offer an exciting one-week instructional surf camp. Campers will spend mornings receiving surf instruction both on land and in the water from NSSIA Instructors at Narragansett Town Beach. All campers will be accompanied by a YMCA camp counselor and YMCA lifeguard to ensure comfort, safety, and support. Transportation to Narragansett Town Beach will leave at 9:00am and return to South County YMCA by 2:00pm each day.
URL OCEANOGRAPHY CAMP
Entering Grades 4-8
Campers will be transported to the beautiful University of Rhode Island’s Bay Campus to learn about the deep sea, wetlands, fish, and sea floor mapping.
